Healing Self-Love and Relationships through Your Heart Chakra

Of all the chakras, I deal with the Heart Chakra the most. We've all had our hearts broken (yes, it's part of life!). However, for many, it has happened in horribly abusive ways, leaving scars and bitter memories that often span many lifetimes. This causes us to miss out on one of the most amazing aspects of being human: to love and be loved.

The Fourth Chakra, called Anahata in Sanskrit, is associated with the Air element, because we breathe from the area that this chakra is located. It is also the center of our entire cardiovascular system where life force energy moves through. The Heart chakra also sends energy out toward the shoulders, down through the arms and into the hands. It is located directly in between the upper three and lower three chakras, and therefore serves as a bridge for harmonizing these two chakra systems.

The Heart Chakra is about unconditional love and compassion, warmth and joy. When strong and balanced, you not only give love freely to others, but you also love and take care of yourself. Both are required to have a balanced heart chakra. If you give love out of desperation, fear or anxiety, or if you love yourself so much that you can't see what others around you need, then your Heart Chakra is in need of healing and balance.

An Akashic Record Reading allows me to go back to the lifetime where the heartache first occurred, how it happened and the choices you made that allowed it to continue. It can also manifest physical problems such as lung and respiratory issues, heart conditions, breast cancer, as well as problems in the upper back, shoulders, arms and hands.

Here are things you can do to help balance your Fourth Chakra:

  • Take care of yourself, nourish your body, value who you are
  • Maintain a positive, loving attitude
  • Practice deep breathing and meditation
  • Do yoga stretches that open the chest and upper body
  • Reach out to others in need, either through volunteer work or kind gestures
  • Spend time with children or animals
  • Wear green and/or pink, the colors that represent the heart chakra
  • Keep heart-healing crystals near you, such as rose quartz, aventurine or peridot
  • Say heart-healing affirmations, such as: "all love resides within my heart", " love opens and heals me", "I look for joy in every situation", "I share my joy freely with others" "I create balanced relationships with others based on mutual respect and unconditional love," "I establish healthy boundaries with others to support my highest good."
